Depression Screening in Primary Care

Measurement Period: April-June 2021
This indicator measures the percentage of eligible patients ages 12 and older screened for depression in Lancaster County primary care practices.

Why is this important?

Depression is a common mental health condition but many people may not recognize symptoms of depression. Medical providers may be able to identify early symptoms of depression by using validated and reliable screening tools during regular primary care visits. There is evidence that the response to treatment for depression is better if patients are treated early.
