Hepatitis Outreach Network (HONE)

The Hepatitis Outreach Network (HONE) provides viral hepatitis prevention, screening, and linkage-to-care services to adult minority populations in New York City. The program offers free screening services throughout New York City and shares hepatitis information with at-risk communities and community providers in their native languages.

The goals and objectives of HONE are to:
1) Raise awareness and provide education in minority communities in the New York City area at high risk for chronic hepatitis B and C.
2) Create a comprehensive hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and ALT screening project in minority communities at high risk in the New York City area.
3) Establish a link between screening efforts and appropriate healthcare, including vaccination and access to treatment for chronic hepatitis B and chronic hepatitis C patients.

The goal of Hepatitis Outreach Network (HONE) is to prevent viral hepatitis among high risk adult, minority groups in New York City, as well as to provide screening and access to care.

HONE has provided free hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) screening at health fairs and other events throughout New York City, specifically targeting foreign-born communities at risk for HBV and HCV. HONE is also gathering data for clinical, epidemiological, and humanistic studies on hepatitis.
